Iowa Children’s Museum - In the Notion of Motion Room

This hand-powered RBS is located in the “Notion of Motion” room at the Iowa Children’s Museum. This skateboard themed RBS has 4 different tracks that the kids power by turning the handle that in turn spins the lift and raises the balls on the angled helical lift. I created several silhouettes of skateboarders in different poses. Two of the poses are painted on the wall. On this RBS is a tall skinny coil, spinners, two sections of connected loop d’ loops, several large dips (to resemble “half pipes”, tipping arms, ball collecting tipping arms, couple of flat spirals, and lots of wavy tracks. All of the pivot points are skateboard wheels.

If you’re ever in the area, this is a GREAT children’s museum to visit with your kids. Located in the mall is an ice skating rink and several other fun exhibits in the food court.

100% stainless steel, TIG welded.
