This is another semi-automatic, wall-mounted Rolling Ball Sculpture. There’s a long marble queue at the top that can hold 50 or more marbles. Press the tipping arm at the bottom and a ball is released from the queue. From there, it takes one of three tracks on its way back down.

One track has a vertical zig-zag, another has a tall skinny spiral, and the third is the long track. That one fills much of the sculpture with curves, switchbacks and a few dips along the way.

All three tracks merge back into one at the bottom, where the arriving marble activates the tipping arm and releases the next ball from the top. With 50 marbles loaded into the queue, this RBS will run for almost 10 minutes on its own — no motor or electricity needed, just gravity.

Once the last marble reaches the bottom, load them back into the queue, press the tipping arm and start it all over again. It’s a very hands-on piece of kinetic art, but once you start it, you can sit back and watch it run.
