Three by Three is a compact stainless steel rolling ball sculpture measuring 26 inches high, 21 inches wide and 19 inches deep. A helical lift runs up the center of the frame and carries the one-inch colorful glass marbles back to the top. The lift includes a speed controller, so the sculpture can be slowed down or sped up depending on how much activity you want.

There are three separate tracks, and each one begins with its own adjustable ball collector. Each collector can be set to release one, two or three marbles at a time simply by adding or removing marbles from the counterweight baskets. This gives you the option of running the sculpture with a single marble on each track or creating more activity with multiple-ball releases.

The first track features a loop-de-loop with a backspin exit that sends the marble directly into the collector plate. The second track is a tall, skinny spiral divided into two separate spiral sections with a short connecting track between them. After traveling through both spirals, the marble also empties directly into the plate. The third track includes a flat spiral and a longer winding section that travels in and out through the other elements, helping fill the interior of the sculpture and tie the whole design together.

Because of its smaller size, Three by Three is easy to move and works well as a desktop or tabletop rolling ball sculpture. Even in a compact frame, the three independent tracks, adjustable ball collectors and variable-speed lift give it plenty of motion and variety.
