Long Way Around is a tabletop rolling ball sculpture built around the idea that getting from the top back to the bottom doesn’t need to happen quickly. The marbles travel through several different elements and changes of direction, taking a winding route through the sculpture before eventually making their way back to the lift.

See on this great desktop a helical lift that can be sped up or slowed down to fit your mood. A really nice loop d loop that sends the ball spinning into the collector plate. A series of 3 skinny spirals that ends with the ball spinning around and around in the last spiral before dropping out back to the lift. The last track has some wavy tracks, lots of back and forth, a flat spiral, a lot horizontal zig-zag and some great hair pin corners. 

Like all of my rolling ball sculptures, it is hand-built from stainless steel and designed to run continuously. The different tracks overlap and weave through the frame, giving you something different to watch depending on which marble catches your eye. It has plenty of movement without being overly large, making it a good size for a home, office, waiting room or other space where you want something mechanical and interesting to watch.
