The Red Run was commissioned for a retail store in Florida and designed specifically to fit inside one of the store's windows. At roughly 4 feet wide by 3 feet tall, it makes great use of the space—large enough to attract attention from across the store while keeping everything contained within the window display.

The sculpture has four different paths carrying colorful 1" glass marbles through the tracks. An automatic chain lift continuously returns the marbles to the top, with adjustable speed control so the pace can be changed from slow and relaxing to fast and busy.

The bright gloss red finish gives this piece a completely different personality from my usual bare stainless steel sculptures. Against the red tracks and frame, the moving glass marbles really stand out—especially important for a sculpture designed to catch the eye in a retail setting.

A rolling ball sculpture works particularly well in a store window because it never really sits still. Even someone just walking past catches a glimpse of movement, and movement naturally makes you want to stop and see where that marble is going.
